In the poem The Funeral, by Gordon Parks there are many good uses of literary devices. A big one is hyperbole. He uses it in a great way which I am going to talk about. It also has a great theme.
The theme of this poem is something most people can relate to which is how you don’t realize how great someone or something is until it’s gone. The poem is all about how a man losses his father and hast to go to his funeral. If you look deeper into the poem you can see that there is more than that.
In the poem there is one use of hyperbole that I really liked and it was in the 8th line. It says “A hundred strong men strained beneath his coffin” I think I know what the author really meant. Most of the time people think of their
