According to the American Library Association, over 11,300 books have been challenged since the origin of banned books began 33 years ago. Parents most often challenge these books rather than organizations, teachers or religious groups, and the majority of books banned are within schools and their libraries.When books are banned, it reveals a disapproval of the censors to look at the world with open eyes, to close their eyes just like they closed the banned books. Prohibiting a book means uncovering more about the sensor than the book or the author brought into the center stage.

According to Blenn Batt, the reason for this book being banned is due to its violent themes, sexual content, brainwashing, degradation of motherhood, religious points of view, suicide thoughts, and not being suited to many age groups in schools. .The state that has had the most attempts to remove The Giver is in the Texas, but also this book has been banned in Missouri, Massachusetts, Washington, Kansas, Oklahoma, California and many other states all over the country.(Telgen). It echoes the precision of language, and her tone elevates so it can suit the nature of Jonas discoveries about the richness of life. The third person point of view is subjective, even though the novel is told by an outside observer, the narrator describes the feelings and thoughts of Jonas.(The Giver Literature). The giver has many attitudes and opinions within the society, and the main character realizes how cruel and unusual it is.
