Even Adolf Hitler, who was a German soldier during World War One, experienced the wrath of mustard gas in October of 1918. After being the victim of heavy bombardment with gas bombs, Hitler’s eyes were heavily affected by the chemicals. In his journal, he described his eyes as “glowing coals, and all was darkness around [him].” The gas attack, which occurred during the night, affected him all throughout the next day, brutally attacking his eyes. Adolf Hitler was taken to a hospital, where he was there until mid-November.
