This video is so significant in relation to the Black Lives matter movement because it uses imagery that directly addresses the police shootings and racial discrimination against blacks. In this video first you will see Beyonce sitting on top of a New Orleans police car in the middle of a flood, which according to the huffington post represents the aftermath of hurricane katrina. Then, you will see scenes where she and other women are dressed in likewise attire that African American Women wore after they were so called free from slavery but still persecuted. Also, there is a short clip of a man holding a newspaper with MLK on the front cover. One of the more powerful scenes showed a young boy dressed in a black hoodie dancing in front of a line of police. The boy is shown with his hands in their air and the police doing the same in response. For example, after reading the Washington Post I saw a comment that stated, “Yes, a disproportionate amount of black citizens are killed by our law enforcement officers in discharge of their duties - both black and white. But let 's be honest folks, that is because a disproportionate amount of our criminal class is black.” (Anonymous) So, Why are most of the comments from people who do not support the movement? The answer is simple. Those who read the post and make comments that go against the article are either upset or they don’t believe it is accurate and want their side of the story to be told. They want to convince people that this article is wrong and they are right.
