In Louisiana, there has been officers who have arrested citizens without any proof (probably clause) to do so. The officers made arrests based on their feeling about the person. This is against Amendment V’s reasoning about making accurate arrests based on facts and thorough research of the perpetrator. The officers also detained citizens claiming it was for investigation and pressured them to talk about the crimes around Louisiana. These officers disregarded the right of due process and Amendment’s rights about not talking till the citizen has an attorney. There was a recent article on December 29, 2016 about Shawn Williams, an inmate wanting a retrial for a 1993. The reason being is that the woman was pressured to give him away to the police in 1993. With this information, Williams was wrongfully accused and is believed to still be innocent.
