The event I attended for the diversity assignment was called, “Social Innovation in a Digital Context” (SIDC). The event was held October 16 at the PASSHE Center City campus, located at 701 Market St in Philadelphia. This event was a PowerPoint presentation with a question and answer format at the end. I set-up a new department that became a diversity hub for the executive, governors, staff and students. My new team gave birth to diversity committee and associated specialist networks: Religion and Belief, Black Minority Ethnic, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans) and Disability. My organization, Mount Ida College, offers a variety of student programs from the “Office of Diversity and Inclusion,” which cultivate an environment for students, faculty, and staff to learn from all lifestyles by encouraging an exchange of ideas that support diversity and inclusion. It has been in the time that my feet imprinted this earth and my lungs breathed this air that the Supreme Court has passed a bill for marriage equality and in the last eight years my nation has elected the first man of color to lead our democracy.
