Instead, those “Morally Blind Exponents Of Power” should be kept in check. Treading around political leaders and economic powerhouses is a childish way to solve the problem of the exploitation of scientists of all kinds all over the world. Not only is it ineffective seeing that almost all types of scientific topics can become weapons instead of a creative outlet. Even astronomy and the study of astrogeology wasn’t safe when it was uncovered not long ago that united states air force had plans to nuke the moon “to aid the study of planetary astronomy”(CNN). Truthfully, I’m not even all that sure how that would aid in anything let alone the study of astronomy. Scientific research shouldn’t be restricted, but the government and funders should be restricted in what they ask of and in a way force scientists to do. Contrary to popular belief, it takes a lot of moolah to conduct a legitimate and authorized experiment. To obtain this money, the scientists will either be rich before hand in someway or they must receive funding. Usually, that funding comes from either the government or an interested economic Big Head, depending on the type of experiment being conducted. The problem that is faced time and time again is that since most scientists receive funding, they’re tied down and forced to preform at the call of …show more content…
Usually, the answering to a Scientists wrongdoing usually lies with their intentions or state of mind. If an invention intended to help the common good, then usually the scientist is not at fault if the project goes sour, especially if it goes wrong because of their funders. However, that instance can also vary depending on the individuals definition of helping is and what exactly do they mean by common good seeing that many “scientists” have preformed many heinous crimes against humanity in the name of “research” and “scientific curiosity”. There are many examples of unethical experiments conducted in many places during many different eras, the Father of Gynecology, J. Marion Sims, preformed gruesome surgical experiments on enslave women without the use of anesthetics, this torturous ordeal led to the creation of modern Gynecology. Human radiation experiments, the bodies resistance to syphilis and other STD’s and so on led to major advancements to modern medicine and biological warfare. However, all of this was at the expense of the cruel deaths of many, many people. The Manhattan Project is also a huge scientific advancement, at the expense of the loss of many lives. Even today, as Einstein predicted, it’s predicted by many historical scholars that the dropping of the bombs wasn’t to end the war seeing
