The Importance Of Family Values In Society

Family values can be defined as those values that are held so dear in any event and are thought to be transferred in most cases with the family unit. Traditionally, family values are normally passed from one generation to the other, and this is because of the need to make sure that everything is done in the right manner. The family acts as the basic unit in the building block of the society. Families have different values that define the manner in which its members react to situations or perceive varying issues. The family acts as the base for the transmission of values to the children. Family values are important when it comes to shaping an individual to fit into the society. The quality or worth of what is done by a family warrants it to be termed as a family value and this is because of the manner in which it influences the society in general (Family Values, Friendship Values: Opposition or Continuity, …show more content…
The members of a given family are likely to have shared values that make them distinct from individuals of the other families. Shared values are the basis that makes other families within the society identify and define each family. For instance, a family that is renowned for its honesty, the virtue is likely to be attributed to all the members if the society has continuously held that perception for some time. Similarly, if several individuals from a given family are involved in deviance matters, they are likely to taint the family name in the society (Sotomayor-Peterson et al., 2012). The community is made up of different families that are brought together using strategies that are defined by family values. Communities are known to have shared values in most cases. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the whole concept of shared family values. There can be no such concept as shared family
