Each term, the Standards Committee should explore all campus resources to know what is available. As part of those resources, the Standards Committee should have a completed copy of the Gender-Based Violence Prevention Resource Guide. This resource can be found after logging into www.kappa.org/members, and navigating to More Resources > Chapter VP-Standards. Having a list of resources available prior to a crisis will be invaluable should the committee find the need to use it.
Consider When Developing Terms of Probation:
• How do the terms address the member’s specific problem?
• How do the terms benefit the member?
• How do the terms benefit the chapter?
• Probation must begin on the day the member conference is held unless an exception is granted by the District Standards Specialist.
• All terms of Probation must fall within the probationary period. A member cannot be required to do something in January if her Probation expired the previous …show more content…
o The Standards Committee sends a reminder to the member after her second unexcused absence. o The Standards Committee sends an appointment form to the member after her third unexcused absence to talk about the member’s absences and offer assistance.
• If Probation is determined to be the appropriate action, consider the following: o Remind the member that failure to meet the terms of Probation may result in loss of membership. o The terms of Probation could include:
Attend all required events. This is required for any member on Probation.
Participate in a service project for the chapter.
Volunteer for a specific number of hours to a local nonprofit organization. Submit proof of completed hours to the Standards Committee. Volunteer hours should equal the total number of hours missed due to unexcused absences.
Help plan a chapter retreat.
Help plan a sisterhood function.
Pick from job jar. Try to relate tasks to the missed function if possible.
- Assist with washing and ironing initiation robes.
- Assist with straightening out the recruitment closet.
- Help plan the new member retreat.
- Help write thank-you notes to alumnae who helped with Recruitment or
