Action Research Proposal Aaron Wilson EDU-520 SNHU 02/27/2016 Introduction According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, recess is defined as “a suspension of business or procedure often for rest or relaxation.” A prime example of this definition is that of children playing at recess at school each day. For years, there has been an ongoing debate as to whether or not recess was a necessity in the daily school schedule. It is coming to a point where many schools don’t allow for a recess period during the school day, or they frown upon it heavily, as many curriculums now require so much of students that there are not enough minutes and hours in the school day to get everything done.…

But I think that recess is a healthy, skill building, activity that all middle schools should have. Studies show that recess helps kids in the classroom and helps them learn social skills for life. This was devastating to me because like all other children, I loved going outside to play. When I came across this article that devastating childhood memory came back and I knew I had to read it.…

Mrs. Winn’s kindergarten class was probably one of my favorite elementary classes because I had my best guy friend, Cameron, in the class, and it was obviously an easy class for me. I remember whenever we colored anything or did any drawings, my teacher would always compliment my coloring abilities because I knew how to color within the lines; all the other kids had scribbles outside of the lines and their drawings would not be as neat as mine. Cameron and another boy named Jordy were my favorite people in the class and the three of us would always hang out together and play outside during recess. Jordy was my favorite until he snitched on me and told the teacher I did something I did not do. He eventually died out of my life because I did…
