America has a governmental design that separates church and state yet, some argue that due to religious influences and principles, that can be challenged. “The goal of the nation 's founders was to ensure religious freedom for everyone in a society a community, nation, or broad grouping of people having common traditions, institutions, and collective activities and interests that included many faiths. Separation of church and state, however, is neither clear-cut nor simple. In the legislature and especially in the courts, debate continues about issues from school prayer to taxation that involve the relationship between religion and government”("Church and State."). The complexity of the debate spans from cases in which people have escaped incarceration by bias due to those in power having similar beliefs. Or, churches growing privately powerful and doing damage to freedoms provided by the government, and the influence of religion challenging our school systems policies and subjects. Cases of these influence are shown in countries such as Iran and Russia, where religion dictates the word of man and the word of the many as a way to solve issues in today 's society. Iran, where religious figures hold important political, administrative, or judicial positions(Church Vs. State), this nation shows the effects religious dominance holds in a society, where the people basically allow the church to interpret the law of the land.
