I visited Christian Baptist Church in Linwood, NC. I debated on whether or not I would go to the early morning service or the evening service. I decide that I would go to the morning service on Sunday, February 15.
The scared book used at this church was the Holy Bible. However, there are different versions of the Holy Bible. During the service, I noticed that the preacher kept making reference to the King James Version (KJV). He also made it clear that the King James Version was the only bible that should be used. The book was used in nearly all of the service. The service would start with music, then transition into the actual sermon. Van Voorst wrote that “using the book itself or its words in a variety of ways without any mental attempt to understand their meaning.” Being able to read the scripture without analyzing it is important because some scripture is applicable the way it reads. The interviewee was also able to help me comprehend not over analyzing scripture. I asked the interviewee what he thought about the scared book and how the book was applicable to his life. Mr. Greene explain that the book was more than just words. The book was a piece that taught right from wrong. It defined what it meant to be a Christian and how one was supposed to act/treat others. This helps develop a greater moral compass and allows the person to grow
