What is wildlife forensics? How these crimes are determined a crime, and how are these crimes determined solved even if they are identified? Many people don’t even consider the multiple crimes, murders or mutilations of animals that are occurring on a daily basis out in nature. We see and hear about crimes against animals daily, and we do not stop to think about how many of these crimes tie into trafficking, murders or smuggling. The Scope of Wildlife Forensic is applying forensic science in order to protect endangered species as well as all wildlife in both in captivity and wild in order to make sure there is a Wildlife population. Being able to determine from a sample of a crime scene for example contents of an animal carcass could tell if the animal was from the area it was found or if it was dumped. Understanding DNA or components of shell like substance or horn like findings on a suspect could place the suspect in an illegal smuggling or trading ring and that could lead to bigger criminals being brought to justice. Many crimes you hear about everyday could be linked by something in nature as well for instance Drug and human trafficking is also tied to many cases involving illegal trades, poaching and many other illegal crimes. Many of the dangerous criminals that you hear of has also played a role in poaching, illegal trades of some sort other than drugs to kidnapping men women and children to use as they see fit. Many animals have lost their lives due to illegal drugs being placed into a balloon and given to the animal causing them to ingest from dogs and cats to larger animals.
