The Inferno Socratic Seminar Questions
1. How did the poem, The Inferno, influence you?
The poem, The Inferno, did not influence my views or morals on life. However I think that Dante’s writing skills from the poem were influential. For example, his creativity on the punishments for each sinner and his use of vivid imagery.

This picture gives a clear image of Dante’s view of hell, it describes a gloomy, dark and mysterious setting, with spooky and cringing details. Dante manages to explain the color and setting in great detail which is admirable.
2. Oftentimes scholars compare Dante to Shakespeare for his literary genius and contribution. Would you rank him as such? Explain. I would say that Dante and Shakespeare are exceptional in different ways, I think Dante is proficient in vivid imagery and creative writing, whereas Shakespeare is proficient in analysis, every sentence written in his sonnets include so much meaning that depth analysis is possible within his writing.
3. Do you think The Inferno adheres to Christian ideology? Explain.
I think that The Inferno does not adhere to Christian Ideology and these sings all correlate to the bible, there are many biblical references in the epic and it does not support Christian Ideology.
4. Has Dante changed at all as a result of his journey? Would the lion, leopard and she-wolf still keep Dante from climbing the mountain? I don’t think the lion, leopard, and she-wolf still would keep Dante from climbing the mountain, Dante has changed in terms of sensitivity, he would witness the punishment of other and now commits punishment on
