The Original gate was built as the eighth gate in the city of Babylon. The gate was built around the year 575 B.C., and was the main entrance into the city. The +11.5 m tall gate was reconstructed in the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, Germany.
Art Elements
There are three major colors that are visible on the Ishtar wall; these are blue, yellow, and brown. There are scratches in the yellow bricks to make the lion/bull/dragon appear to have a mane, horn/s, and to give them facial features. There are triangles used in the horns and ears of the animals, and circles for the leg/arm mussels of the animals. The texture on the bricks appears rough, and sometimes uneven. There are no 3D techniques used in the gate. It is composed of enclosed sections filled
