Let's go to Rice they said, it'll be fun, they said. After 40 minutes of car sickness, wrong turns, and missed exits we finally reach Rice. I was excited to get out of that dreadful car, until the wind struck me and I realized it was bitterly cold. I stood there unprepared for the weather, quivering without a jacket. Mother Nature clearly was not on my side today. I was not expecting much at first, just another university visit something I've done many times. Begrudgingly, I walked to the front entrance, the “Lovett Hall”, and it felt as though someone was squeezing the life out of me. I stood there breath taken for what felt like hours, the building was gorgeous, with intricate archways, a soft pink color, greenery at every corner, I could

Room 0742 is a studio design room located in king pavilion at the Iowa State University college of design. In a way it represents the beginning of my journey at Iowa State, for it is the first class room I had ever been in as a student, and its represents hours and hours of hard work and dedication to my major. It is a rather bittersweet place with times where it became a place to put my work on display as well as a place to spend many long nights and very early mornings working and developing. The space itself physically is not a room by traditional means it has no doors and stall like walls that rise above the ground six to eight inches as well as an opening at the top.…

Lil gave me a ride home; we will enter the sorority together. She’s known about the cult, for years and Mom arranged for her to give me a ride and fill me in on a few things. Her obsession for doing the mermaid show at Weeki Wachee seems over the top, but our humor match inversely matches our size mismatch. Opening the once lonely door, there was a hallway that seemed to have just rejoiced with a once depriven necessity. As striking as the first rose in spring, her silky, soft, shiny hair combined with her enticingly exquisite eyes produced a sublime look; it instantly ejected any pressure in the room. Her presence would’ve even made an angry person hopeful. Withered by time, the plethora of thin liable cracks scattered across the olive-dyed floors and indigo walls with an antique circular pattern ; this house was old enough to live in a pangea . However, there was a skeptical sense of suspicion of this person.…

Long, wide roads, small houses, and steel fences were my view as I walked into an unfamiliar building called Thomas Jefferson Middle School. I did not know anything about the culture or the language; a huge chill came over me, which I have never felt before. I felt goose bumps as I first walked in the building. The building was old and was not well cared for. The colors of the walls were fading and the elevators made the sound of a dying animal when it moved.…

One of my favorite place to go is Gambino’s in Fairhope, Alabama. This little, Italian restaurant on the edge of the bay that has been there since I was a little girl. I always loved getting to dress up in my little, plastic high heels when I was four years old to go to dinner. The car ride to the restaurant is absolutely beautiful with the bay views on one side and the rustic, tiny downtown on the other. I always know we are close to being there when I see the neon light sign with Gambino’s on it peeking around the corner.…

After that my brother, sister, and I were guided to the couches that were located in the lobby, while my parents spent about twenty agonising minutes checking us in. After the long flight I just wanted to lay down and rest, but my dad thought it would be a wonderful idea to go out into the city and explore some of the many different places. Groaning and dragging my feet along with shoulders hunched forward I followed my eager parents into a place that I had never been before. The hustle and bustle of the day was all around me, and the amount of people who were walking throughout the streets and the sidewalk was astounding. About five minutes into the walk a loud noise boomed throughout the entire city chanting words in a language I had never heard before.…

I finally saw the the beautiful sun for the first time without having to bend my head back as far as I could since I had been in New York. It shone down brightly, warming my skin and glimmering off the glass of the skyscrapers in the near distance. I could finally feel the soft breeze wrap around me and not get deflected from the buildings. I watched the people from the city enter the park and watched as their city attitudes give way to the magical ambiance of the park. I closed my eyes and took it all in, and I could’ve stayed on top of that rock for…

My car slowly comes to a halt as I approach the blinking light that serves as the only form of traffic control in this town. Usually, I would just continue down the long stretch of road to my house, but I decide to turn left and venture onto the streets where I spent my childhood.
