In relation to that, I agree to the finding that states older adults are more self-actualised compared to the younger ones (Berndt, Kaiser, van Aalst., 1982). According to Maslow, he hypothesise that self-actualisation can be only achieved upon fully maturing (1970). This is so because studies indicated that for a person to be self-actualised, the individual needs an openness of mind and a great aerial of acceptance (Lueckenotte, 2000). Others found that as a person ages, they tend to take realistic and careful decisions in achieving their goals in life (Lang & Carstensen, 2002). This can be related clearly to Levinson (1978) whose life stage theory where the transition from childhood and adolescence to adulthood and to late adulthood. His model defines each stage explicitly, for instance, adolescence tends to appraise or lay off certain relationships according to the identity formation. On the other hand, adulthood and late adulthood looks at the dynamic of handling crisis amicably, embrace practicality and search for inner balance.
