Spaniards colonized a better understanding of the Maya people using the Hieroglyphs. They were able to categorize the cities and discover which group belonged to what city. They were able to identify which city was at war with the other. Within time the Spainards ended up dominating control of the population. The Maya population was soon demolished as they had no protection against the Spaniards leaving them to abandon the city.
Mayas employed their time based on the glyphs carved stone slab. They were able to leave dates on these drawings helping the scholars unravel the mysteries of the calendar. Another expert declined to understand the writing and learning of the Maya. Spaniards who traveled through happen to miss the city not knowing so much was waiting to be discovered. The only thing that was left behind were structures that had mask faces carved out and tall grass. Most of the books were burned with very important information leaving the door open to misinterpretation of who the Mayas really were.
A place unknown located on the map has yet to be uncovered. What happen to the Maya civilization? Some say the city was possibly overpopulated and a drought at that time caused the town to disintegrate leaving behind no clues. No one really knows what happened to them but for now it will be a mystery of the Maya that has still yet to be
