The respondents were expose to an average of 8.6 hr (SD = 5.1) of electronic media each day, with the greatest exposures being to music, television, and internet (2.6 [SD [= 2.2], 2.3 [SD = 1.51], and 2.3 hr [SD = 2.1] each day, respectively). They were exposed to an average of 1.2 hr (SD – 1.5) of non-electronic media each day, including 0.6 hr (SD = 1.1) of exposure to books and 0.6 hr (SD – 0.7) to that of magazines/newspapers” (726). The participants who were examined in the test experience more media hours each day which consist of listening to music, watching television , and surfing internet were marijuana smokers and alcoholics. They were entertained more in media exposure than books because reading were only 0.6 hours a day which is close to no reading at all. This is useful examination because researchers may find a solution to this long-lasting problem of media exposure. In a separate survey of English parents in the same year, the investigators showed that most parents believe that television affects the way their children talk (75%), dress, and behave (about 60%)” (703). Parents cannot monitor or check children who have televisions in their bedroom. It is basically impossible to check if children’s rooms are always lock privately. This means that children can easily violent commercials without them knowing it is violent. They may get use to watching these kinds of commercials; therefore, they may later become violent in attitudes. In addition, parents knowing television has an effect in their child’s growth should be more aware that using parental control in advance television is another good way to prevent them from watching violent shows and commercials. To conclude, children watching violent knowingly or unknowingly television shows and commercials should be stop by giving strict control in their television by parental controlling it.
