Globalization has made it possible for people to share information and ideas within minutes thanks to the internet. For instance, in 2011 during the Arab Spring people used the internet to get out information because no foreign media outlets could cover the event. The manufacturing capability of nations across Europe and Asia were in ruin because of WWII. Because of the destruction this led to United States passing the Marshall Plan and other laws to help rebuild parts of Europe and Asia. In those days, the United States had protectionist policies, meaning it was hard for the United States to get imports from other parts of the world. Fast-forward to the 1980s and the United States started passing free trade agreements and companies started outsourcing labor to other parts of the world. Specifically, some skilled labor and factory jobs were no longer demand because of globalization; textile factories closed the doors and those jobs moved overseas.
