Depression and Suicide Within Teens

Suicide is a serious and major issue. Statistics show that suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10-24 years old. Each year, about 5,000 teens, mostly between the ages 15-24, commit suicide. The rate of suicide has tripled since 1960. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in college-age group and the third leading cause of death in ages 10-24. Feelings of resentment, sorrows, and anger can trigger suicidal thoughts whether it’s a long-standing problem or a temporary situation.
Depression is major issue that can possibly lead to suicide. Feeling unhappy in response to a loss, disappointment, or frustration. 67.3% of teenagers between the ages 12-17 have experienced at least one major
