The concept of emotional intelligence has attracted a lot of interest from research scholars on psychology and corporates around the world. Emotional intelligence and its impact on the outcome, personnel and organisational productivity has been the subject of research for many research publications. Trust radius can be defined as the extent to which you trust others around you. Trust implies a constant and confident expectation of honest and reliable behaviour with each other. As discussed earlier, mutual trust is an essential ingredient of stronger relationships. At the same time, it is essential to have a balanced trust radius to avoid the pitfalls. While working with a group of 5 members on a university group assignment on subject ISIT332, I trusted my team members to understand my competing time requirements and to communicate with me any concerns on my role or contribution. However, without any warning, my team members reported me to the subject coordinator and denied my contribution to assignment. The choice of the communication channel and the mode of communication can have a profound impact on information exchange and the trust radius among members of a team. Trust which is often tested or established by progressively exchanging sensitive information and also by disclosing vulnerabilities, is also interconnected to several other factors like one’s values and beliefs, pre-conceived notions about members based on ethnicity, religion or culture, etc. I am of the opinion that building trust requires some time and given situations with time constraints, the selection of communication channel, the mode of communication, honest reliable communication, actions aligned to communication and individual characteristics of team members all play a vital role in building trust among team
