The marriage and family counselor’s that work at the counseling center with Mrs. Alexander have the same mission statement. Alexander (2015) stated, “Marriage and family therapists advance the welfare of families and individuals. They respect the rights of those persons seeking their assistance, and make reasonable efforts to ensure that their services are used appropriately. Counseling young individuals takes time and patience because a lot of them have stubborn personalities.
Social workers have their own mission to abide by each day. There are many different jobs that involve a career in social work. Their mission was stated by McVeigh: The primary mission of the social work profession is to enhance human wellbeing and help meet the basic human needs of all people, which particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty. A historic and defining feature of social work is the profession’s focus on individual’s wellbeing in a social context and wellbeing of society (McVeigh, 2015).

Both a social worker and a counselor have a busy day, which includes having clients, supervising interns who see their own clients, meetings, emergencies, and crisis. Each of their schedules could change at any point of the day. They have tons of paperwork each day containing private information about an individual. Also, they have many researches they are a part of on campus and off campus. They are all on call which means it could be five o’clock in the morning and they get a call they must go straight to the situation. “There is no such thing as a typical day,” stated McVeigh (2015).
In conclusion, social workers and counselors have many different rules they abide by, but they have quite a few that applies to both. These types of jobs can have a lot of struggling moments and a lot of rewarding moments. These individuals revolve their lives around helping any individual who is in need of help. On a daily bases they work daylight to dark considering they are always on call. However, counselors learn from social workers, and social workers learn from counselors. Social workers remind counselors that each individual has a voice. Counselors remind social workers to not always rely on solutions and rely on some of a person’s
