Is this the worst flu season we ever had in the nation? Do people even still want a flu shot? What precautions are being taken to make sure that the flu shot is effective and safe to use? Lately, this year’s flu season is gaining a lot of attention because of how deadly it is. The season starts in December and can last up until late May. The months that the flu has is peaks are in December and March. The flu has been reported to be widespread through forty nine states. Just in January alone, there was a report of thirty people who had died from the flu. They were all under the age of eighteen years old. After receiving the the vaccine, there would be some possible mild side effects. The side effects are soreness were the shot was given, a fever , and aches. There would chance of when receiving the shot, it wouldn't work at all. The reasoning behind it is that if the viruses in the vaccine isn't close to being similar to the influenza virus, you can still attract the virus. In vaccines they are basically inactivated (dead) virus that when injected, out immune system would known how to defend off that same virus before it spreads more. But since the inactivate virus doesn't resemble that virus you had made contact with you still can get ill over it. Thinking that receiving a vaccine, there wouldn't be a chance of receiving any crucial disorder. Well that is wrong, it's possible to catch a devastating disorder. Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder that can be triggered by immunization. CDC claims that “ a person will get GBS after getting the flu than after vaccination” . What Guillain-Barré syndrome is , it's when a person's immune system attacks there nerve systems, causing weakness in muscle and in some cases even paralysis. The Institute of Medicine did a scientific review into this issue and found out anyone who got the swine flu vaccine in 1979 had a increase chance of getting Guillain-Barré syndrome. The
