The story ends with Francis’ death caused by Margot’s shots. That kind of ending contains within itself strong ambiguity. The dilemma is whether Margot has killed her husband by accident or it was a murderous act. From my point of view the woman has proved herself as egocentric and wicked. Following Francis’ liberation from moral vacillations, she recedes from the man, she very well knows. Thus she won’t be able to continue with her condescending
