Chapter one: The summer
It was July 15, 2015, I , I Faith Taylor, was up late again on a warm summer night. It wasn't any normal night for me. I have spent the past month talking to an extremely attractive fourteen year old guy named Braxton Hinson. There was something about Braxton that made me have an extreme crush on him, for the past four years. As everyone knows I am very hard headed; consequently, this summer, I was determined to get his attention even though i knew he was the “bad boy” type. I wanted him more than a dog want a bone; therefore, I spent the next few weeks thinking. I did something no one expected me to do. The best way to grasp someones attention was to be different and special. That summer was filled with phone sex, sexting,

I had a extremely scary doctor's appointment that day. I didn't tell anybody about it at school because I was embarrassed. I has had a stomach issue for the past three years. I has to take tons of medication, but none of it seems to work. I told Jordan about the stomach issue just not that appointment. I didn't want to distract him from his next cross country meet because I knew this was a big deal for him. The doctor said something in my stomach could erupt. I felt like I was paralyzed with terror. Her doctor suggested an ultrasound just to make sure everything's okay. After the ultrasound I wanted to go to her cross country practiced. Her mother took her and dropped her off. It was raining, so I left her phone in the car until after practice not thinking about what might be on the phone. After practice I got in the car and searched for her phone, but it was gone. I asked her mom calmly where is her phone? Her mother replied with a terrible answer, “you don't have a phone anymore.” I knew exactly what her mother was talking about. I was speechless, What could I say? I just got caught for doing something I knew I wasn't suppose to do. I was terrified that Jordan would get in trouble. He was the most important person in her life at the moment, and I couldn't imagine life without him. For the first week I's mom was extra harsh on her. I couldn't handle the pressure, so I started cutting her thighs every night. I was grounded for two weeks from her phone. After I got her phone back, her mom mom put a secure app on her phone. This app gave her mom completely control on her social life. I soon cracked her phone, and her brother got a new phone, so he gave him hers. When I's brother gave her his phone her mom didn't put the app on, so I got some freedom. I was still hooked on Jordan but knew I could never be with him. I talked to her friend,Jessica. I told Jessica I missed Jordan so much and I doesn't know

“All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, is a science fiction short story. Bradbury included a one of a kind setting, superior characterization, and an ending that allowed readers to create their own, using their imagination. The setting was unique and I would have never thought of an imaginable place like Venus. Margot is a shy and frail young girl and we notice this when Bradbury describes that she is an “old photograph” and talks like a “ghost.” Over the years, good short stories and novels have been transitioned into movie adaptation.…

There is a similar situation in the book, End of Summer by John Lowry Lamb, between the protagonist Nick and a cat named The Ghost. As we delve into the novel, the trauma from a devastating car accident his parents are in blur Nick’s sense of reality.…

How do life experiences shape our values? A way life experiences shape our values is when we run away from a problem and later learn something, good or bad, from it. In Tom Sawyer, Tom runs away because he thinks nobody loves him and later learns they do but in their own way. In “Abuela Invents the Zero”, Constancia runs from her grandmother and the fact she is related to her, later she learns she should care about her. An example from my life is when I did something that made my mother scared and I ran inside because I was afraid of getting yelled at, later I knew not to do something like that.…

In 2008, all of the female first graders, and probably even a few of the male first graders, had a crush on the same seven year-old kid (for his sake and mine I'm going to change his name to John Smith). In the years to follow, the entire elementary school would have heard of and, of course, fallen for John Smith. But for the moment I, being a naive, newly turned seven year-old, thought that I would be the one to date John Smith. So one day towards the end of the school year, my teacher announced that we would be playing heads-up seven-up!…

Susan Minot’s story titled Lust is written in first-person perspective and it revolves around the adolescent life of a 15-year-old girl as she lives in boarding school. The narrator is the girl herself, unnamed and anonymous in terms of characterization; very accurately depicting someone with low self-esteem. The story opens right away with the character introducing the boys she’s met during her time at boarding school but goes no more into depth about them than mentioning the sexual experiences they have had, such as seeing one naked for the first time or French kissing another. The readers get little, if any, description of the male characters beyond their names.…

Many theories have been proposed on what exactly would take place post nuclear war via multiple works of fiction. Stories like "There Will Come Soft Rains" and even games such as the Fallout series present their own ideas on what the world will be like after it has been engulfed in nuclear fire. These representations are all incredibly interesting and provocative. However, in the story, "Searching for Summer," readers are presented with a world where most have given up hope. Interestingly enough, the story does not go for the "rugged waist-land" stereotype, but instead introduces its readers subtly to the moral and ethical issues that have amassed over the years due nuclear fallout.…
