b. What parts (if any) of this essay do you agree with?
The part of the essay that I agree with includes that racial equity is about eliminating racism. I love that the author dictated that race should not be a predictor or determiner for an individuals’ health, education, income, etc. As a future educator, I think it is good to beware that in some schools/communities this is the reality for most students. Educators must discover ways to close the opportunity gap between schools and students.
c. What parts (if any) of this essay do you disagree with?
The portions of the essay that I disagree with include that the author focused only one racism. Personally, I believe that racism is not the only element affecting the success of students/citizens in the United States. Future educators should consider the environment that is created in different classrooms, expectations of students, and resources available. Finally, I believe, as aspiring educators, we need to assure that we are not placing all our focus on students of different ethnicities; there are a great deal of white, high class background, students that struggle in school. They too, have elements that they need to overcome in order to be
