Arranged marriages in Indian society
Arranged marriages are a huge part of Indian societies, and many other societies and cultures. In Indian it is believed that arranged marriages are the most effective, if not, the only way a man and a woman should marry each other. They are right to believe in them because it works for the most part. The divorce rate is much lower in arranged marriages, rather than marriages built by “love” which commonly occurs in western civilizations. One quote that really got me was "First comes marriage, then comes love." this is the mindset of most people in India in the Hinduism religion. Once you really think about it, if you have always been raised by a different code of love than the west, then you will always live by that code. In this case, it is "First comes marriage, then comes love." in the west, it is the exact opposite of that. Someone might consider you crazy for even thinking about arranged marriages in the west. Arranged marriages have their own advantages and disadvantages. But at the end of the day it all depends on the couple 's way of dealing with the hurdles and problems and the equal contribution of both individuals involved, that will decide the fate of the marriage.Following are the statistics that show that 90% of the marriages in India are arranged vs the divorce rate of in India, which is much lower than the global divorce rate. This shows that arranged marriages are successful. In a nut shell, there is no specific right or wrong way to love. Most people in the western world don 't like the idea of someone choosing who he or she will spend the rest of their lives with.
