Jesus and the message from him, helped create a framework for moral and ethical behavior that benefits all men. “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” These words give one power to be a good person, and has had effected millions of people. A good book reaches the hearts of many people, and just this one simple phrase by Jesus has affected so many lives. The Bible has also affected how we interact as a society. It helped end infanticide (the killing of babies) by showing all people life is valuable. It also helped created equality between men, women, and slaves. People resonated with this message of compassion, and that underlying message of compassion makes The Bible a grand book. It really makes one feel the scope of how their behavior affects others. Good books should make one reflect their lives, and where they stand in the grand scheme of life.
