A thematic analysis is when you take a larger concept or term and use it to notice patterns appearing throughout a text. Media: Media perhaps is the most prominent theme throughout Gone Baby Gone. Helene and Dottie are absolutely obsessed with the media, specifically the television. When Angie and Patrick first meet Helene, she is physically unable to unglue herself from the television in order to talk to Angie and Patrick so that they can get information regarding Amanda. The little information that Angie and Patrick are able to pry out of Helene it practically useless and nothing that they did not already know. Patrick seems to struggle with his faith throughout the entire novel of Gone Baby Gone. For example, Angie and his office is located in a church and Patrick even decided to visit a church to receive guidance when the Amanda McCready case is not going as expected. Perhaps the most easily spotted example of Patrick struggling with his faith is when he is having a hard time choosing between letting Amanda stay with Jack Doyle or turning the police chief in. This struggle very clearly hinders Patrick’s internal thoughts and more specifically his and Angie’s relationship. Since Patrick chooses to go down the legal pathway, he decides to arrest Jack Doyle but because Angie believes that they should have turned a blind eye and let Amanda be happy she decides that she and Patrick are no longer fit to be
