’’The only source of Knowledge is Experiences’’ ( Albert Einstein). Knowledge and experience is what shape ones everyday life. Gold and gemstones only affects your social life . In The Alchemist, Santiago (protagonist) went on a journey to find a treasure full gemstones and gold. What made the journey most valuable were the experiences and struggle Santiago went through, and the knowledge he got throughout The Alchemist . Santiago learned from the King of Salem to not abandon his dream. The King taught him that a person’s dream is the thing they have always wanted to achieve . The King said, “To realize one’s dream is a person’s only real obligation.” Children always have dreams or goals they want to accomplish when they grow up . Santiago had a vision from seeing two hawks. Santiago knew the oasis would be attacked. He trusted his heart enough to go to the tribal council. A horseman came from the desert and touched Santiago’s forehead with his sword. “I had to test your courage,” the horseman said. The chief gave Santiago fifty pieces of gold, and Santiago thought about giving up on his dream of treasure to stay in the oasis with Fatima. But in the end, he told Fatima, “I’ll be back,” because he trusted his own heart. When Santiago and the Alchemist were caught by a tribe at war, they escaped only by convincing the tribe that Santiago was a magician. Santiago learned, through trusting his heart, how to talk to the desert, the sun, the wind, and to pray to God. Later, at the pyramids, he saw the scarab and trusted his heart to dig at that spot.
