Religion controls many aspects of an individual’s life and future. The theme of religion within The Crucible relates to this article through destiny. Prose discusses the “foolishness of attempting to exert one’s will when fate or destiny (or as O’Connor would argue, God) has other plans for us” (Prose 356-357). In The Crucible, the accusations of several individuals contradict their religious ideals. If one attempts to go against the will of God, he or she will face repercussions for showing unfaithfulness.
