Are we digging our own graves? Is the food that we eat actually good for us or is it slowly killing us? Growing up, I thought all fruits and vegetables were beneficial to my health. Hence the reasons our parents would make us sit at the dinner table until we finished our brocolli, even if it meant sitting there for hours. I remember grocery shopping with my mom and never even thinking once that anything in the store would be unhealthy for me. But I could have never been more wrong. Many people claim that all chemicals are bad, whereas some claim that only man-made chemicals are bad. For example, there are many chemicals found naturally in plants that are very poisonous to humans in small doses; similarly, there are many man-made chemicals that are completely harmless. All chemicals, if taken in a high enough dose are toxic –even water, which is considered essential to life. “The dose makes the poison” applies to all chemicals, man-made or natural(SenseAboutScience). However, just because these chemicals are not toxic doesn’t essential mean they are safe. Like Aspartame for example, its not toxic at the levels we would ingest, it still causes cancer at these levels. As such with Caramel food
