Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd President of the United States. He also made up the Declaration of Independence in 1766. While Jefferson was the legislature, in 1765, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act, which eventually enrages many of American colonists because they felt as if the Parliament did not have the right to tax them. To Jefferson, the Stamp Act had no concern to him, but he did have a thrive to find a wife for himself. Jefferson being wealthy and handsome, wasn’t really good with the ladies. He was a shy person and somewhat didn’t know how to talk or start a conversation with a women. Jefferson once tried to make a move in College with Rebecca Burwell who later rejected him for personal reasons. After a few years passed, he came up his neighbor’s wife who he tried to seduce, but eventually ended up failing and embarrassing himself. To Jefferson having a family was very important to him. In the early 1770s, he met Martha Skelton. Martha Skelton was recently widowed and was said to be pretty and into well educated men. Jefferson and Martha then married on New Year’s in 1772, claiming their love for each other. Although Jefferson wanted a family, he was a busy man and having a family kept him distracted. Jefferson had a huge debt to pay off and within a year of their marriage, Martha’s father passes away which put more stress upon him. On September 1772, Jefferson daughter, Martha ( also known as Patsy) was born. After a year later on December 16, Jefferson was pulled into an act that, Samuel Adams and few others protested for a new British tax on tea by withdrawing tons of tea into the Charles River, which became known as the Boston Tea
