Bath And Body Work Case Study

I just recently became an associate at Bath and Body Works and completed all the on-job training required for the position. After taking notes, completing quizzes and being released to complete work on my own, I have a very good understanding of how training goes. I wanted offer up my input on the training based on my own personal experiences. Please understand that I am offering both strengths and weaknesses and possible suggestions to consider when training future employees. Just to recap, my training was two days after I officially accepted the position, and lasted about three days. Per company policy, all trainings require seven hours of videos in the back office. While watching these videos, employees are required to answer questions …show more content…
Though many questions in the book were answered easily, I think more time should be spent between the manager and employee on making sure unanswered questions be addressed. In Bath and Body Works case, there are hundreds of different products to learn, and watching a quick video about it, is not how everyone may learn. I personally, am a hands on learner and learn best when I get to find things out on my own. I know this is not always convenient, but it can allow employees to gain their own understanding and maybe even retain the information better for the long …show more content…
There are only a few things that may be missed with some trainings as employee turnover is fairly high in retail. It is also hard to make changes to trainings when you are required to follow strict company guidelines. If permitted, I would reevaluate all aspects of trainings and be sure to give trainees floor experience before releasing them on their own. Although some changes are minor, they could possibly help with productivity and even customer conversion. Not all changes need to be made at once, but I would suggest trying a new code of conduct (do not paper) first and see if maybe that creates a noticeable difference in environment. These are merely my own personal suggestions, but maybe gaining input from other employees could also be

I believe more in-depth training could help every aspect of the company. I fully understand that we are a growing business and that makes it difficult to bring new employees on, and have them trained to an extent to where they are well off by themselves but, I feel that we are reaching a point where we can give employees the necessary training for the job. New hires seem to be expected to know how to close and run the store alone within a month, I dont agree with this and I feel that they are not getting the necessary training they need. A training plan or any type of way to organize training to make sure that new hires learn their specific job details I feel would stop pointless mistakes from happening and lower stress within the workplace.…

One of the common themes in the reviews is that several customers said they feel so welcomed in the restaurant after coming in a few times. However, that was not their first impression of the staff and therefore it took us to another question of the training process. Mrs. Rosales said that she only has three days of training and when she said that she made a quick reflection as that time is insufficient. At that time, I asked about the training process and Mrs. Rosales was not sure of how they are trained or even the process itself. From the facts that have been uncovered the following observations were…

As a former employee of Panda Express I have experienced and seen how employees are trained. Although the techniques that the newly employed individuals are taught can be effective, it doesn’t allow them to fully understand the concepts. Therefore they cannot perform their job correctly or efficiently, and would create problems later on from the lack of training. I have noticed several instances that can be fixed directly. Not only does a new way of training help the employees, it also benefits the managers and the establishment in return.…
