A study on the transtheoretical model builds on current research and focuses on young adults in a period of time where intervention helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The sample used, were sedentary students who either defined themselves in the Pre-contemplative stage or the Contemplative stage at a large University in Scotland. The researchers conducted a Randomized controlled trial in which their experimental group were targeted with an intervention during the first 6 months of University. After a night of drinking excessively, she arrives late at her sister’s wedding where she destroys the wedding cake and evidently ruins the wedding. In an attempt to correct her mistakes, she steals a limousine which she later drives into a house. This dangerous decision leads her to be sentenced to 28 days in rehab.
The film follows Gwen through the 5 stages of change. Through our first introduction to Gwen, it is evident that she is in the Pre-contemplative stage where she does not believe her behaviour needs an adjustment. She starts to contemplate the pros and cons after her counselor decides to send her to jail when she does not adhere to the rehab facility’s rules. Later on, Gwen falls of a branch as she is trying to reach for the drugs she threw out the window. This forces her to come to the realization that she needs to change her
