Ulysses S. Grant
Hiram Ulysses Grant was born on April 27, 1822 in Point Pleasant, Ohio. He was the first son of Jesse and Hannah Grant. When Grant was younger he was shy, and he kept to himself. As he grew up he was elected the 18th president of the United States. Ulysses was a commanding general who worked with President Lincoln to lead the Union Army to victory over the Confederacy in the Civil War. Ulysses had four children, Frederick, Ulysses Jr., Nellie, and Jesse. He also had a wife named Julia Grant. Ulysses was in office from March 4, 1869 till March 4, 1877. Ulysses was great at academics, and he graduated from the U.S Military Academy in 1843. He retired from the American-Mexican war in 1854. Grant played a unique role in American
