Underage Drinking Persuasive Essay

Lately a problem has occurred with underage drinking. The number of teens who have been drinking has increased dramatically in the past couple years. This is a huge problem because drinking can cause health risks and can cause teens to get into deadly situations. Underage drinking usually happens when teens are unsupervised, under peer pressure,or even when parents let their children. These are just some reasons why underage drinking is becoming a problem. One of my solutions to stop underage drinking is to educate the teens and their parents. Schools should have extra classes, stressing the risks factors of drinking. They could use visuals of accidents caused by underage drinking. They could also show the health risks that alcohol can cause. Many people think that it is okay to drink because everyone does it. People of today’s society think that just giving their teenager a couple drinks is okay, but in reality it can lead to a life of alcoholism. It only takes one drink to hook someone to become an alcoholic. People think that it is cool to drink or that it makes you “fit in”. I think that if society would stop accepting underage drinking then it would decrease the amount of deaths in teenagers. Another solution to stop drinking in teens is to watch who you let your teens hangout with. In many cases the first time a teen tries alcohol is with a friend. Also, the first time a teen goes to a party is usually with friends. Peer pressure plays an important role in teenage drinking. Many teens think that because their friend is doing it, that it is okay to do it. If you watch who your teenager hangouts with then they may not have to worry about negative peer pressure.
