According to the article "How Much Universal Healthcare Would Cost in the US" by Ryan Whitacker, having a socialized medicine system would cost an additional $562 billion in taxes to cover the government spending (Whitacker 1). Increasing the country's already high-priced taxes would cause an increase in problems like evictions, foreclosures, and homelessness due to people originally entering mortgages or rental contracts while being able to afford them and would no longer have the funds to keep up with monthly payments. According to the article "This is the Real Reason Britain Won't Release Alfie Evans to Italy" by Kira Davis, baby Alfie Evans died because the NHS (National Health Services) and the courts wouldn't let his parents transfer him to a hospital in Rome where all the required expenses would be paid for by Italy (Davis 1). The hospital did not let Evans go because he "most likely will not live much longer due to an incurable condition". This was an infringement on Evan's and his parents' right to leave the country for seeking treatment in another place. Evans "was forcibly removed from his breathing devices but continues to breathe on his own. The NHS and the courts would not even allow Alfie to go home with his parents" (Davis 1). Their reasoning is not logical because it would cost them less money to release Evans to his parents or Italy for care. Although the condition was incurable the hospital and court should not be the one to decide whether the patient goes home or flies to another country to seek further
