Vincent van Gogh painted over 900 paintings in his life time. My personal favorite is Starry Night. Van Gogh painted this piece after his ear incident in an asylum in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France. Influenced by his mental state of mind, Vincent created this beautiful painting portraying his vision of the night sky. When I look at the painting, I see the gloom of Van Gogh’s mind and his perception of the after life. In my opinion, Starry Night shows the audience his emotions. He used different aspects of brush stroke and color to show people the world through his point of view. Several of his best pieces of artwork were created while he was having episodes.
