According to Becoming a World Power,“With many in the United States divided over the issues of imperialism” (Pg. 361). With that being said America is trying to figure out how to become a colonial power without going against and violating the most basic principle. This also shows that United States main goal was not to get involved but with all the problems coming up, we where the strongest and new what needed to be done so we got into it fixing what needed to be fixed. In the article The Spanish-American war it states that, “ Many Cubans felt that The United States had betrayed its goal of securing independence for Cuba” (Pg,362). This shows that the U.S was trying to keep its Allies in all the places it had, but still couldn't let all these places go into war for nothing. The WW1 was just a huge fight between many places wanting something that one of the other places had. The war could have probably been avoided if the people would of made amends with one another and or just came to and agreement. The Panama Canal was the biggest assets in the WW1 everyone wanted to use it because it was a huge blind spot for places, And it always had goods being sent out or sent in at anytime.
