Have you ever thought about writing a movie? Creating an amusement park named after you? Getting your own television network? Well, Walt Disney never thought he would accomplish all these things in his lifetime. Walt never knew he would make 984 films. He never imagined 46,500 people a day would visit Disney World. Walt once said, “Around here we don’t look backwards for very long… we keep moving forward, opening up new things because we’re curious… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths”. That means, Walt doesn’t worry about the past. He focuses on the future. He is optimistic and knows that looking towards the future, will lead him toward greatness.

Unfortunately, he was too young to join and was rejected. Instead, he joined the American Red Cross and was sent to France to drive an ambulance for a year. When he returned in 1919, Walt pursued a career of being a newspaper artist by getting a job at Pesmen-Rubin Art Studio. From then on Walt had many jobs filming commercials and doing hand-drawn animation. Walt started his own animation business and hired is first employee, Fred Harman. He eventually married Lillian Bounds, who was a secretary at the Disney Studio. They were married in 1925. Together Walt and Lillian had two daughters, Diane and Sharon. Marceline, Missouri was a big influence on Walt. He started drawing there and fell in love with it. On July 17,1955, Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California. Walt Disney World opened on October 1, 1971 near Orlando, Florida. Walt died on December 15, 1966 in Burbank, California due to lung cancer.
Walt Disney holds the record for the most Academy Awards in history with a total of 26. Walt Disney Productions is one of the best-known motion-picture production companies in the world.
