Was Napoleon a Reformer, revolutionary, or a reactionary?
In this essay I will be talking to you how I know that Napoleon was a reformer other than revolutionary or reactionary. the point of this paper that i am writing to you is to show how Napoleon wanted to change society, not only to build roads and bridges and stuff like that but he also believed in equality, he believed in the same ideas in the French Revolution.

He was a reformer because he wanted to have great changes, he wanted people to be free, to have liberty, and to have fraternity. he didn't only want everyone to have equal rights. He wanted to rebuild society as in rebuilding roads, bridges, Industries. he also gave all the local churches control of all primary schools (private schools),giving the church control over all primary schools he brought peace with them, giving all the power of private schools to the churches the government had all power on all the public schools in all of France. He also made new laws on jobs, they didn't hire you based on what social class you are on the hired you on skill so that everyone is equal not only hire classed people. Another law that Napoleon used was the Napoleonic Code was a main idea of the enlightenment principles such as equality of all citizens before any law. Napoleon wasn't the best reformer but he did some things that that the french revolution might have not agreed with for example Men had complete authority of his wives or children, and women lost all there rights of citizenship so napoleon had a few flaws but he tried to do his best to make his country the best …show more content…
he wanted to strengthen the central government so that he becomes king, The Monarchs before him didn't have any powerful control over the people of France. He also had the time to create a strong army using his official tactics, he had all of his soldiers all around the country. he also started asking the opinion of others before doing something in the government. he also stopped the execution of a person for doing something bad. He also did what ever it takes so that the government never loses money for example he gave all the power over the printing and newspapers that were sold, so it was illegal to sell books, articles, and newspapers that didn't for throughout the official
