The Other Wes Moore is a narrative story about two young men with the same name, brought up in similar background and end up with different fates. The author’s purpose is to examine how two people with the same background can end up completely with different lives. The book narrative the lives of the two young men right from their early age till they become what they are today. The first part is about their family background, their environment and how the two men were brought up with no father. Part two of the novel narrates the decisions made by the two Wes Moore and their families that led them to become what they are today. Finally, the third part is the fates of the two men, what the author Wes accomplished and what led the other Wes to where he is today. The main characters of the novel are Author Wes and his parents are Westly and Joy, his sisters are Nikki and Shani. Other Wes’s parents are Mary and Bernard, and his brother’s name is Tony. …show more content…
For instance, I liked the way Author Wes’s mother handled the situation concerning his son. She did not just relax because her husband is dead and because she sent him to a good school but she went ahead and send him to a military school because he was not doing well in school and he has started to do the wrong things. She talked and act on what she says. On the other hand, the other Wes’s mother did not really take the steps she was supposed to take when she found out that her son is going the wrong direction, she talked but did not act. I would definitely recommend this novel to someone because I know it will inspire them just like it inspired me and it will teach them some steps they need to take in order to ensure their success.
