This battle allowed for many transformations of government in the Western world. Octavian’s victory over Mark Anthony ended numerous historic regimes in several countries. This victory also ended the nearly one hundred years of civil war in the power struggle for governance over Rome. According to the Philae Victory Stele a large royal proclamation stone with writings in three languages upon it, much like the Rosetta stone, within a month after the victory at Actium Octavian became the last Pharaoh of Egypt. He would be the last of a line of Pharaohs that had span an era of over three thousand years. Within one year of his victory at Actium, Octavian received the title of Augustus meaning, “divinely favored” from the Roman Senate. The title of Augustus gave him unparalleled power over what would become the Roman Empire. Octavian now as the absolute sovereign of Egypt as pharaoh is considered to be a god on Earth by the Egyptian people; and, is also now known as Augustus, by his own people transforms the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire and rules as its first Roman emperor. The victory at Actium was a pinnacle moment in western society. This exchange of power would allow for the expansion of Roman rule, the preservation of numerous Mediterranean cultures as they aligned with Rome, and the foundation of many forms of law that still endure
