In 1801 when one of Alexander’s children, Philip Hamilton, was just 19 years old, he challenged George I. Eaker to a duel in his father's defense and died the next day at his opponents hands. Philip did this because Eaker had given a speech saying that Alexander Hamilton wouldn’t care if they were to overthrow Thomas Jefferson, who at the time was the president of the continental congress, by force. After the speech, Philip and his friend, Richard Price, decided to confront Eaker but Eaker just called the boys “damned rascals.” After that, Philip and Richard had no choice but to challenge Eaker to a duel the next day, where Philip died.
