Curing Cancer: Lysosome & Active Transport For this research project we used lysosomes as the cell structure and active transport as the cell capability. We used these factors in order to find a cure for breast cancer. The reason we chose breast cancer is because if anything were to go wrong we would have the capability of having a mastectomy before the cancer can spread. However, with lung cancer we don't have the ability to take action if something were to fail. The lungs are a vital organ that we don't have much control of.
The lysosomes location in the cell is spread around the cell's cytoplasm. The structure of the lysosomes is a spherical shape with a thin membrane. …show more content…
In other words, we would do this process through chemotherapeutic treatments. The iron in the cell accumulates in the lysosome. That iron makes the lysosome more sensitive to destructive compounds called reactive active species. Next, cancer cells often produce elevated ROS levels and the associated higher rate of spontaneous cathepsin release from lysosomes may facilitate cell death induction. If we can get the lysosome to pop, we can kill the cell. Lysosomes in cancer cells are susceptible to iron accumulation, which makes them …show more content…
We also discuss how lysosomal inhibition could emerge as a new therapeutic strategy to overcome drug resistance in cancer. Given the significant need for novel, specific disease treatments, the nuclear envelope and the nuclear transport machinery have emerged as a rational therapeutic target in oncology to restore physiological nucleus/cytoplasmic homeostasis. Recent evidence suggests that this approach might be of substantial therapeutic use. Active Transport controls what enters and exits from the cell. With this information, Active Transport would have the ability to permit cancer cells from entering a new cell. Active transport has the ability to stop protein, the energy of cells, from entering into cells. Thus, it can cause the cancer cells that require that energy to eventually die out. Active Transport can prevent cancer from spreading around other areas of the body and other cells. It can also keep the cancer cells it has already in the cell and make sure that it doesn't spread to other
