All three of these individuals have had exposure to formal education as evidenced by their current years of school. They are either near graduation or have moved into a higher degree of learning. All three individuals have had patient interaction and communications in clinical rotation/rounds.

The respiratory student is under the impression her patients are unwilling to communicate with her. She is unsure how to gain their confidence. The first-year in residency is very hectic. The patient load is high and there is not enough time for residents to spend with each patient. The resident would like to learn how to couple purposeful listening skills with time management. The nurse practitioner is the youngest of the three learners. She is having difficulty retrieving the information she needs to develop an appropriate care plan.
