Hillsborough High School Awards Tracy Jameson Teacher of the Year The title of Hillsborough High School teacher of the year was awarded to Tracy Jameson, a special education and environmental science teacher, on February twelfth due to “her passion as an educator and contagious positive energy,” said Sharon Jacob, a member of Peers Assistant Leadership Students (PALS). “I would describe Ms. Jameson as loving. Someone who is there to support all of your ideas and help with your problems both with life and school. She lights up any room she walks into,” said Matthew Roarty, her former student.…
The Senate Honors Awardees at Distinguished Faculty Event Throughout their career, UC San Francisco faculty put in great efforts to respond to mentoring and teaching responsibilities. The Academic Senate Committee on Academic Personnel (CAP) honors these efforts by awarding four faculty annually with the Senate’s Distinction In Mentoring (DIM) Award and the Distinction In Teaching (DIT) Award. This year’s recipients were recognized during an award ceremony surrounded by colleagues and family on Tuesday, May 29, in the Lange Room at the UCSF Library on the Parnassus campus. Each recipient gave an acceptance speech.…
In today's society, every kid that plays a sport gets a trophy for just showing up and that is not right. There is more meaning behind a trophy for a kid than what most people think. Getting a first place trophy is a better feeling than getting a participation trophy. Kids should be able to go home and celebrate their first place trophies and realize they accomplished something rather than getting a participation trophy for just being out there.…
I am qualified to be a part of the 2016 National Honor Society because of my hard work and willingness to do anything for anyone. As an Honors student, I work hard for the grades I earn and study for hours. In my free time I try to do as much as I can for anyone else. Working hard for my goals may come along with a challenge, but I can overcome anything as long as I put my mind to it. Over the summer, I found myself taking care of someone else’s pets and house.…
I am writing this essay in order to earn my place in National Junior Honor Society. I believe that my academic skills meet that of what is required of this group. I was the only one to have earned the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence in the 2013-14 school year. I have received straight A’s every quarter of the two completed years of middle school which means that I also subsequently received High Honors those quarters as well. I haven’t ever received a detention or an A.C.E. of any kind, and I intend to keep it that way.…
MORGANTOWN, W.Va.--Graduation is a special moment a young adult's life. It is a moment that he or she waits four or five years for. Maybe more or less depending on the situation. But some student athletes don't get the pleasure of walking across the stage in front of their family or friends because of the sport they participate in.…
Being accepted into the National Honors Society has been a rewarding experience that will shape my life around my academics and career. Along with achieving this membership status, I have earned the academic letter, which is awarded to students willing to rise to the challenge of achieving good grades, working hard, and being dedicated. At the end of my high school career I earned the acknowledgement of being a capable student and young adult. While being a part of this organization, their core values of dedication, and hard work have been instilled into me throughout my high school years, and I plan to uphold them in my college career and beyond.…
Every year, around April, my school gives out an award called Top 100. This academic award is given to the top twenty-five students of each class. Ever since my freshman year I have received this award. Some believe that most of the people that are Top 100 do not deserve it because the difficulty of their classes is not taken into accountability. Others believe the reward is just irrelevant, but this award is very important to me because to me it exemplifies my hard work.…
The National Honors Society defines what it means to serve the student body as well as the community. As a student athlete in the Sutton school system leadership, service, character and scholarship have impacted my very way of life. Having a persistent attitude is what makes a student shine and as a prospective candidate for NHS I will incorporate this quality into each of the four pillars improving the society as a whole. Three years ago I began the NHS application process though I had little experience in volunteering for the community and lacked the opportunity to develop myself as a leader this changed as my high school career went on. Through athletics and long hours of volunteering with the town's technology department has provided me with numerous opportunities as high school went on.…
