An actor interprets the work of a writer, they convey a situation and/or character to an audience through the use of movement, speech and body language. They are usually under the instruction of a director. An actor is also required to learn their lines and be able to embody their character and situation enough to improvise when needed. Work varies from live performances, soap operas, radio work, television, advertising and film

This course would help me to gain maximum exposure to a range of platforms to help and expand my career opportunities. The course duration is 4 semesters which is 2 academic years. The fee per semester is $8 000, the total tuition fee is $32 000. I would choose this school because its small yet very established and has great courses. Its also in an accessible area. I attended a workshop there in the holidays so i gained an insight into what it was like and the environment i would be in. Some skills can be transferred, for example a television / radio announcer requires the skill of being able to speak or read scripted materials, they also need to be engaging with a clear voice and be able to improvise at any time. Directors need good communication skills, they also need to have good reliability and memory. Directors also need experience and knowledge of the acting industry and have good team working skills as well as determination and persistence. All these skills are shared with the ones needed to be an actor and it would be easy to transfer into these jobs without the stress of learning something completely new. Directing and television / radio announcing are very close occupations in relation with acting.
FUTURE TRENDS
Over the next decade the career trend for acting jobs looks very promising. Actors will have more opportunity than ever due to more technology being used as time progresses. The internet, satellite television and mobile devices and gaining popularity and more time is spent watching video content. This means actors will earn more roles in movies videos and television. As technology is so available more and more independent film makers have emerged into the entertainment industry finding success.
